Who may lawfully act for you in Portugal?
Only a lawyer entered on the roll of the Ordem dos Advogados may give legal advice or represent you before the authorities. Consultancies and relocation agents may prepare paperwork but cannot act as your legal representative. Every Portuguese entry on this site names the lawyer and links the roll entry that confirms the admission.
What should you check before instructing anyone?
Three things, each verifiable without taking the firm's word: the entity's company registration, the named lawyer's entry on the bar roll, and whether the firm performs the legal work itself or instructs it out. The entries here record all three, and mark the ones we could not confirm.
